Swim Team
Welcome to Crosspointe Cruisers Swim Team!
Crosspointe competes in the Northern Virginia Swimming League (NVSL). The Northern Virginia Swimming League was founded in 1956 to sponsor competitive swimming and diving in and among the community swimming pools in that area of Northern Virginia contiguous to the District of Columbia, and to develop in the children participating in this program-- A love for the sport, advanced aquatic skills, teamwork, and the principles of good sportsmanship.
The current 102 NVSL-member swim teams are divided into 17 divisions of 6 teams each. In 2026, Crosspointe will be swimming in Division 2 and competing alongside Fair Oaks, Kent Gardens, Langley, Vienna Aquatic, and Wakefield Chapel.

"A" Meets
There are five regular season NVSL meets against the other teams within our division, held on Saturday mornings at 9:00 AM at either Crosspointe's Glen Eagles Pool or the other team's home pool. Each team is permitted to send 3 swimmers per individual event (with a 2 individual event maximum for each individual swimmer) and 1 relay per relay event. Swimmers will be chosen for these meets on a weekly basis by the coaches based off of the team ladder. If your swimmer is selected, the coaches will reach out to let you know, as well as to make sure you are available for the meet.
"B" Meets
The Cruisers also swim as a part of the Springfield-Burke Developmental League for swimmers who do not get selected to participate in "A" Meets. Those meets are typically held on Monday evenings at either Crosspointe Glen Eagles Pool or another area pool. All swimmers on the team are eligible to swim 2 events of their choice at these meets, the only rule is that "A" Meet swimmers are not allowed to swim an event they swam at the "A" Meet the Saturday prior.
Relay Carnival
In the middle of the regular season, each of the 17 divisions in the NVSL hold a Divisional Relay Carnival. At this meet, each team sends one freestyle and one medley relay per age group, as well as a mixed age relay, to compete for the title of Division Relay Carnival Champions. Swimmers will be chosen for this meet by the coaches based off of the team ladder. If your swimmer is selected, the coaches will reach out to let you know, as well as to make sure you are available for the meet.
All-Star Relay Carnival
Based off the results of all 17 divisional relay carnivals, the top 18 relay teams in each relay are selected to progress to the All-Star Relay Carnival and the chance to be crowned best in the NVSL.
Divisional Championship Meet
After the end of the regular season, the individual championship meets begin. The first meet is the Divisional Championship Meet, where each team sends a maximum of 2 swimmers per individual event (again, with a 2 individual event maximum for each individual swimmer). Swimmers will be chosen for this meet by the coaches based off of the team ladder. If your swimmer is selected, the coaches will reach out to let you know, as well as to make sure you are available for the meet.
Individual All-Stars
Based off the results of all 17 divisional championship meets, the top 18 individual swimmers in each individual event are selected to progress to the Individual All-Star Championship Meet with the chance to be crowned best in the NVSL.
Please consult the parent handbook for more information on how meets work. If you have any questions, please reach out to either [email protected] or [email protected] and we will get back to you as soon as possible.
